While most farms specialize in either Huacayas or Suris, we believe that both are integral parts of the fiber industry and have chosen to place both types in our breeding program. Additionally, we have chosen to selectively breed for grey alpacas with a variety of renowned bloodlines. It is a well-known fact that breeding two grey alpacas usually results in a grey offspring. However, there is usually little fiber improvement from generation to generation.

To improve fleece in a grey breeding program, a breeder must selectively incorporate the advanced fiber genetics found in white and fawn alpacas. As such, we have carefully chosen white and fawn alpacas that have thrown grey, or have the necessary genetics to throw grey. While not grey themselves, these alpacas help to form the foundation of the Criative Acres herd.

At Criative Acres, our motto is "Breeding for Fiber and the Future". We take this very seriously. Our #1 goal as alpaca breeders is to create beautiful fleeces. However, we also understand that we need to breed for conformational correctness. Alpacas with conformational defects may not live as long or as healthy a life as they otherwise would. Additionally, some conformational defects can keep alpacas from being able to reproduce.

We love our alpacas, and we want to ensure that they live happy, healthy lives, and produce only the finest quality fiber.
